   Guess it depends on what he means by 'story.' If he means fiction...then, no, of course not.
   
   But the gospels themselves are narratives...stories. True stories, but still stories.
   
   I would say maybe a story, as opposed to logical delineation of 'the facts' would be a more effective evangelistic tool. God gave us a huge book of stories. Narrative is his primary means of communication in that book. So I'd say story has much value.
   
   But I have a feeling he and I mean two different things by 'story.'

   Great comment and glad to hear from you. Your thought is the same as mine.
   
   It's a great quote if what it means is that there should be gravity in preaching and you cannot pretend as if it carries the same weight as one of Aesop's Fables.
   
   But perhaps because of the weight of it we need to communicate it in the most appropriate fashion....which...is often story.
   
   And since it's Thomas Boston I think he is referring to the gravity of preaching.

   How's it going? Great to hear from you. This quote is by Thomas Boston...and I am not 100% sure where it is from. I think it is from The Art of Manfishing...but not fully confident of that. I printed it out and posted it on the wall in my office, and have since forgotten its origin.
