Apology to my readers

Hopefully nobody has fallen prey to our little pop-ups. If you have I humbly apologize. Bravenet had a convincing ad about doubling internet traffic. It appeared to be working. It was supposed to be through an unobtrusive traffic exchange with like-minded sites. Then I started noticing pop-ups. Once I unblocked them to see what the pop-ups were I discovered they are often inappropiate sites. So, I immediately took the traffic exchange thing off the website. If you have had an inappropriate pop-up then please accept my apology.

The Message of Zechariah I

Last night was rough! We were down in attendance, we were not able to do music, and it seemed as if half our listeners were going to sleep. What is the most disappointing about all of that is that this is one of the most important messages that you will ever hear. Not that my delivery of it or really even the sermon itself is the most important but the topic is vital to everything that we do. Perhaps our lack of feeling a deep burden like John Bunyan keeps us from clinging to the gospel of grace with as much passion as we need to. It is my hope that you will read over this sermon and that the Holy Spirit might use it to preach the gospel to your heart--that's our only hope! The full text of the sermon can be found here.

Today in Blogworld 12/06

The first thing to point your attention to this morning is Mark Dever's post on The 5 Points of Criticism. His 5 points are as follows:

  1. Directly, not indirectly
  2. Seriously, not humorously
  3. As if its important, not casually
  4. Privately, not publicly
  5. Out of love for them, not to express your feelings or frustration

In my experience we usually fail to "restore our brothers" in two ways. Either we do not attempt it at all, or when we attempt to do so we do it incorrectly. Hopefully, Dever's tips will help to curb our faults on the latter. HT: Between Two Worlds

You are also encouraged to join us in Reading the Classics Together over at Challies. Today we are looking at Chapter Four of John Owen's Classic work Overcoming Sin and Temptation. As noted earlier you can easily read this work online. It's not too late to join us. Here are the links to each chapter: one, two, three, four.
